Chemistry of Perfume Elective Module

The Chemistry of Perfumes elective was highly engaging and relevant. Through the two hands-on practical sessions or demonstrations, I was given the opportunity to apply as well as deepen my knowledge on alcohols, acids and esters. Creating our own oils, lotions, soaps and perfumes allowed us to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the processes behind oil or perfume making, which include steam distillation, expression and solvent extraction. I was deeply intrigued by the Science behind these techniques.
