Gifted and Talented Education Programme
Talents of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow
A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM OUR DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Dear G.A.T.E. students,
I thank you for your interest in G.A.T.E. I have a very short simple welcome message for you.
1. Holistic approach to learning.
Your placement in G.A.T.E. is based on your strengths and your preferred area or subject of interest. So although the purpose is for you to have a focus in your chosen area, please understand that true learning can only be spurred on and supported by your earnest participation in other disciplines. Learning is after all a holistic venture where your different experiences open doors to new opportunities while at the same time sharpen your fundamentals when you apply them in new situations.
2. To give so as to grow, and to grow so as to give.
All GATE students have enviable academic records. What then has G.A.T.E. got to do with people who have such strong academic records. We hope that G.A.T.E. can nurture you to share your talent with the larger community, and through your selfless giving to society, we hope that you will grow in wisdom.
3. Uniquely, a family.
This is the second year of G.A.T.E. As this program matures over the next couple of years, I personally hope that the teachers and students will form a family of long term connections. This can only be realized if there is genuine care and concern for one another. G.A.T.E. is a home to you and vice versa, you sustain this home, offering it its unique characteristics.
I wish you all the best in your learning journey.
Best regards,
Chung Wen Chee
